Sunfire Marble by Velvet--Glove Sunfire Marble by Velvet--Glove
Ultra Fractal 4.04 (except for sig)

I've just finished writing a tutorial about making marbles in UF - I will hopefully be uploading it in a day or two when my guinea pig testers have given it the once over and any errors/confusion found and corrected. ;)

Anyways... this is broadly the marble that the tutorial describes how to make. I've gone on to add my own background for it and thought I might as well upload the resulting image here.

I couldn't think of a better name so Sunfire Marble it is.

Update: If you want to know how to make marbles like this then check out my tutorial here:

We all need more time so to anyone who may 'fave and run' on this piece or any other: thank you so much for your quickie 'vote of approval'.

Nice to see this old friend again - it was a pleasure to 'test drive' the tutorial - and you already know that I think it is extremely easy-to-follow and written in a friendly and informative way.

Thanks, Maggie. :)

I think you'll find the updated and expanded tut is even better. I'm just waiting for a little more feedback from more novice UF users before releasing it.

The spirals on the marble and the darker one diagonal to them reminds me of fire and smoke respectively. And is the background suppose to look like a super comfy quit or blanket? You have the lovely folds that make me think it's true. You really did well its theme.
Can't wait for the tutorial. :)

Thanks! I wanted to keep something of the original layers (the fractal that I used to make the marble) so I just added that simple padded/quilting effect. I think it makes a good background. :)

The tutorial is still undergoing testing as I had to make quite a few changes over the weekend. It may be a few more days but will hopefully be worth the wait. :)

Patience, friend! :D

I'm having to re-write some of the tut as it's proved to be a bit difficult for less experienced users. It will be ready when it's ready, is all I can say. :)

Thanks for the fave!

No, you'll have to make your own background. ;)

but that's how the actual marble will turn out, right?

More or less, yes... but it won't be exactly, pixel for pixel, like this one. I did a bit of fine tuning on this particular image so there are some small differences to the one rendered from the final params in the tutorial, mostly in the highlights.

Hope this answers your question! Perhaps you could note me on your progress or if you have any further questions?

Thanks for the fave! :D

I've updated/expanded on some of the tutorial pages today, following some feedback and further thought on my part. I'm sure you'll find it useful... when it's finally tested and uploaded, of course. ;)

Shouldn't be too long now I hope.

That might not be such a bad idea,,,, Popular too with the Tourists :)

No problem at all with the tutorial.... glad I could be of help and took the time to do one from scratch....

It might have been better for you to hand the testers just the initial params and the walkthrough to see if they would all arrive at the same result - that way you could better ascertain where the tutorial might be falling down....

Glad I did one from scratch - I spent a couple of hours of the highlight/shadow section trying to figure out what the problem was but I think at 4am tiredness generally gets the better of me and I overlooked the trap options.... Learned lots though in trying to figure it out :) - I guess thats what you call a Scorpion's occupational hazard... won't quit easily until they have found a solution
