Mono Mania I by *Velvet--Glove has wonderful shapes and texturing - and shows that you don't necessarily need colour to make a beautiful fractal! ( Suggested by Fraxa and Featured by Lyastri )

I love your textures, understated and elegant that dont detract from the composition, which is also marvellous. Cant say much more that hasnt already been said, but its beautiful.

Beautiful simplicity and wonderful elegance is what this fractal speaks to me. The arrangement of spheres and three dimensional curves, along with the framing, textures and monochromatic nature of your fractal, make this piece one that is ordered but not too contrived, not overly imposing but offering a strong sense of presence.

The big watermark, though is a sad element.

Thank you very much for your wonderful and thoughtful comment, I'm pleased you enjoyed all the different elements and composition of this piece.

I'm very sorry about the watermark, I don't like it either, but image thieves who think anything posted online is free for the taking are a sad reality.

Although I'm sure it would look great in color also, the monochrome scheme has a very good look to it, and also - ore lasting. Too much color can look great at first but I think Greyscale will always look good, since it's the image that grabs our eyes and not the colors...excellent work.

Thank you very much. I think you're right about the monochrome colours, colour palettes can go in and out of fashion and sometimes colour can detract from the forms and textures in a design. I did initially try adding colour to this piece but it looked a mess so I stuck with the simple mono approach and went on to refine the 'substance' of the design further, to great effect, I think. ;)

I appreciate the :+fav: on this, cheers!

If you look at the work that has been done in history, the ones that stand out and stay in your mind the most are the ones that are under-stated. That's like in photography - people think that shooting black and white is easier then color, but actually the opposite in the sense: with a monochrome scheme there is so much to do in shadows/lighting - working with what is the least complicated palette is much harder then working with the full color table. With color - and as an example, the typical hot air balloon photo - the first thing that you see is the color and not the elements, well the color (wow effect) wears off very quickly but the elements are the part that make the art. In working (any art form) - doing it with a minimum of colors leaves the design more exposed for lack of a better word, and that is what will catch a users eyes - so if it's done right it will last - done wrong and it won't even catch a passing glance.

Wow! This is a beauty. I love the wonderful patterns and shapes. The tonal range is rich and superbly contrasted. It's a magnificent fractal. :)
