Ultra Fractal 5.02. Full size view recommended, for the details.
I'm still messing about with fractal jewels... on and off. A couple of people expressed interest in seeing some rubies so this one's for you my friends! As for the title ~ an earlier incarnation of this image had some Celtic knotwork on the background, it didn't really work so I ditched it but my provisional title of Boudica's Blood stuck. Boudica was an early Briton, a warrior Queen of the Iceni people, who led a bloody revolt against the occupying Romans around AD 60. She was a fiery and passionate woman who forcefully responded to gross injustice and personal humiliation. It's not certain how she eventually died, perhaps poison by her own hand. Other images in this jewel series that you might enjoy can be found in my Fractal Jewels gallery here: [link] We all need more time so to anyone who may 'fave and run' on this piece or any other: thank you in advance. I've always liked Boudica. It's interesting to me just how many of the strongest, most famous women in history were warriors. It's as if the only way for historical women to get noticed and be remembered was to harry, bedevil, rule over and/or generally torment the males of their respective eras. Zenobia, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Cleopatra, Hatshepsut, Grace O'Malley and Elizabeth I are just a few of the great and powerful women who earned a place in history.
